Edge AI Hardware Engineer

EDGE AI HARDWARE ENGINEER sought by Kaliber Labs Inc. in San Mateo, CA.

Job Duties
 

​Responsible for designing, developing, and testing edge compute systems to be deployed in a healthcare environment.  Work closely with software engineers and other team members to ensure that hardware systems meet the required specifications and functionality.  Specific duties include: 1) Work closely with VP of Business Development and the Head of R&D, to understand product requirements, translate them into hardware system design. 2) Understand the Voice of the Customer, ensure that the hardware / system design is compatible with user expectations. 3) Develop AI training and inference algorithms for healthcare applications that run on edge hardware. 4) Work closely with the VP of Engineering on implementing the design of edge computing solutions based on customer requirements, this includes designing image capture systems working in conjunction with the edge compute devices.  5) Work with vendors and suppliers to source and integrate components into existing system configurations.  6) Collaborate with software engineers to ensure hardware and software compatibility and optimize system performance.  7) Integrate edge devices, sensors, and gateways into existing healthcare IT infrastructure.  8) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful deployment and operation of edge solutions.  9) Test and evaluate hardware prototypes to identify and resolve any issues or inefficiencies. 10) Create technical documentation, including schematics, diagrams, and specifications.  11) Provide technical support and troubleshooting for edge computing systems.  12) Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in edge computing technologies.​

Job Requirements
 

Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, plus three (3) years of hardware AI development or related product development experience including experience in system integration and testing.

 

*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Edge computing and distributed systems; 2) Computer Vision systems for Industrial Automation and Clinical Healthcare environments; 3) Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, MQTT, and HTTP; 4) Programming languages such as Rust, C or C++; 5) NVIDIA Jetson module architectures such as Orin; 6) Containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes; and 7) Hardware communication protocols including SPI, UART, Serial and I2C

*Any level of knowledge, experience and/or coursework in the specific skills is acceptable.
 

Salary for this position is $184,829 per year.
