In-House Counsel

Kaliber.ai is seeking a skilled in-house attorney to support our work developing the next generation of AI-powered surgical software solutions and guidance systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer with experience providing in-house legal support (preferably in a fast-paced, highly iterative, and/or start-up environment) to join a rapidly growing company working to make a real difference in the lives of surgeons and patients alike.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about what we're building at Kaliber and eager to contribute his or her expertise and provide practical, actionable advice to help steer decision-making. Qualified candidates will have extensive experience with drafting and negotiating contracts and be comfortable collaborating with outside IP and/or regulatory counsel. You'll stand out if you have previously worked with software or health tech companies, have a STEM background, and/or have experience with IP and/or regulatory law.

This job requires an ability to work independently and proactively. At the same time, we consider ourselves to be a family at Kaliber and are looking for a true team player who is eager and able to collaborate to help realize our ambitious goals.

  • Work with senior management to develop and guide Kaliber's legal strategy as we enter a new phase of rapid growth

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with partners

  • Review external communications as needed

  • Coordinate with outside iP counsel as needed to help manage IP strategy and patent prosecution for a suite of surgical technologies

  • Collaborate with regulatory consultants and attorneys as needed

  • JD and admitted to practice

  • Proven track record of success in an in-house position with significant experience drafting and negotiating contracts and collaborating with outside counsel (preferably in a fast-paced start-up environment). Ideally, we're looking for someone with 5+ years of experience working as in-house counsel. However, we understand that relevant experience and skills can be developed in a variety of roles; if you do not have 5+ years of in-house experience, but nonetheless suspect that you would be the perfect fit for this role, we will happily consider your application.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and IP law preferred

  • Math, science, or technical degree/background preferred. Experience with medical technology and/or AI will help you stand out. An interest in these fields is an absolute must.

  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet sometimes tight deadlines

  • Stellar verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail

  • Familiarity with Slack, Notion, Google Drive/Docs, and Microsoft Office

  • Competitive compensation, Series B equity

  •  Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner when we return to the office (our office lunches are quickly gaining a reputation as some of the best in town)

  • Unlimited vacation

  • Opportunity to collaborate with world-renowned surgeons to help shape the future of surgery

  • And to sweet the deal: the opportunity to design your desk, happy hours, team outings, and more
