Edge Compute Hardware Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Edge Compute Hardware Engineer to join our team. As an Edge Compute Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing edge compute systems to be deployed in a healthcare environment. You will work closely with software engineers and other team members to ensure that hardware systems meet the required specifications and functionality.


  • Work closely with the VP of Engineering on implementing the design of edge computing solutions based on customer requirements.

  • Work with vendors and suppliers to source and integrate components into existing system configurations.

  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure hardware and software compatibility and optimize system performance.

  • Integrate edge devices, sensors, and gateways into existing healthcare IT infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful deployment and operation of edge solutions.

  • Test and evaluate hardware prototypes to identify and resolve any issues or inefficiencies.

  • Create technical documentation, including schematics, diagrams, and specifications.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for edge computing systems.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in edge computing technologies.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Proven experience in edge computing and distributed systems.

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, MQTT, and HTTP.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust, C or C++ is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

  • In-depth knowledge of NVIDIA Jetson module architectures such as Orin is a huge plus.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with hardware communication protocols: SPI, UART, Serial & I2C

  • Familiarity with concepts of design input, design output, traceability, risk analysis, and mitigations a big plus.

  • Comfortable with low-level aspects of the Linux operating system, including but not limited to Unix sockets, device drivers, etc.



This position is open at either our Santa Clara or San Francisco, CA offices. The position requires the employee to be on-site in the office to create a more collaborative and efficient work environment. Employees may have to visit customer sites including medical facilities. Depending on the site's health and safety guidelines, you may be required to have medical screenings or vaccinations to meet site requirements, which may include Covid-19 vaccination and/or testing.
