Distinguished Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. Robert Burks Joins Kaliber Surgeon Advisory Board

San Francisco, CA. August 25, 2023 – Kaliber Labs has announced that Dr. Robert Burks, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Robert W. Metcalf Presidential Endowed Chair in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Utah, has joined the company’s Surgeon Advisory Board.

A highly regarded figure in the field of orthopedics, Dr. Burks is a former Board member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and an active participant in the Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. In 2016, he received the Thomas A. Brady award in recognition of the community-level impact of his work. With authorship of over 100 articles on orthopedic sports medicine, he is the Past Chair of the Sports Division at the University of Utah Health and holds a Board Certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine, specializing in shoulder and knee conditions. After completing his orthopedic residency at the University of California at San Diego and a subsequent Fellowship in Sports Medicine, Dr. Burks entered private practice before becoming the director of Sports Medicine at Wayne State University. He later joined the University of Utah's Department of Orthopedics, eventually leading their Sports Medicine division. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the Metcalf Meeting, the world's largest continually arthroscopy meeting, serving as co-chair and as the sole chair, from 2004 to 2017, drawing global attendees.
